HC Deb 11 June 1936 vol 313 c388
60. Mr. LEONARD

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he proposes to present to Parliament a Midwifery Bill for Scotland; and, if so, can he give any indication as to when he will introduce it?

Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLE

Yes, Sir. It is the intention of my right hon. Friend to introduce a Bill this Session, but he is not yet able to announce a definite date. As the hon. Member is aware, the Scottish problem differs both in nature and extent from that in England and in framing proposals my right hon. Friend has thought it expedient to secure the fullest measure of agreement with local authorities and other interests concerned. Consultations to that end are actively proceeding.
