asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the number of persons who have been summoned for exceeding the 30 miles per hour speed limit during the past 12 months?

The latest figures available are for the year ended 31st December, 1935. During the year proceedings were taken in 77,365 cases for exceeding the speed limit of 30 miles per hour in built-up areas and in 1,899 cases for exceeding the speed limit of 30 miles per hour which is applicable on all roads to passenger vehicles designed to carry more than seven passengers. Detailed statistics of offences relating to motor vehicles can be found in the Return for 1935, which was presented to Parliament on 25th May.
