§ 32. Mr. KEELINGasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that many municipalities are substituting stainless steel for brass buttons and badges on the uniforms of their staffs; and whether, to save unnecessary cleaning, he will make a like change in military uniforms?
§ Sir V. WARRENDERI can assure my hon. Friend that the possibility of adopting badges and buttons for the Army of a metal less tarnishable than brass has not been overlooked. Such a change, however, is regarded as impracticable, mainly on the grounds of cost and unsuitability for active service.
