HC Deb 30 July 1936 vol 315 cc1721-2
74. Miss WILKINSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the public and social issues now involved in the activities of the British Iron and Steel Federation, he will request the steel inquiry to take into consideration the advisability of having public representatives, directly appointed by the Government, on the executive body of the federation?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Runciman)

The terms of reference to the Import Duties Advisory Committee, of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy, do not preclude the committee from consideration of the point to which the hon. Member refers.
