49. Miss RATHBONEasked the Prime Minister whether he will move to appoint a committee to consider whether, and under what conditions, a time limit should be placed on speeches made in the House or in Committee of the Whole House?
§ The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave on 30th March last in reply to questions addressed to me by the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Kirkcaldy (Mr. Kennedy), and to the answer which I gave on Monday last in reply to a question by my hon. Friend the Member for East Fife (Mr. Henderson Stewart).
Miss RATHBONEIs the Prime Minister aware that of the speeches last Wednesday 30 exceeded 30 minutes and 13 exceeded 45 minutes, thus greatly limiting the time available for other hon. Members?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI was, unfortunately, unable to be present during the whole of the Debate, as I should have liked, but rumours of that nature have reached me.
