HC Deb 20 July 1936 vol 315 c40
12. Lieut.-Commander FLETCHER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will obtain and place in the House of Commons Library a copy of the recent French law relative to nationalisation of the French armaments industry?

Mr. EDEN

A Bill designed to provide for the nationalisation of the manufacture and sale of armaments has been presented by the French Government to the Chamber of Deputies by whom it has been passed. It has now been sent to the Senate by whom it is to be debated this week. I shall be glad to arrange for the text of the Bill in its present form to be placed in the Library of the House.

Sir JOSEPH NALL

Need we trouble ourselves with the consideration of legislation passed in other countries?

Mr. EDEN

We can certainly consider it, but there is no reason why we should follow it.

Mr. MANDER

Have we to wait for a popular front for this country before we get this legislation?
