HC Deb 16 July 1936 vol 314 cc2218-9
26. Mr. HILLS

asked the Home Secretary whether he can make a statement on the present state of the arrangements for the protection of the population from air raids; and whether all local authorities have been advised to take such precautions as his Department deems necessary?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

The hon. Member will appreciate that it is difficult to give an adequate description of the present position in a reply to a Parliamentary Question, but I may say that all local authorities have been asked to co-operate in matters of air raid precautions, and the great majority are doing so. Local schemes of air raid precautions are in course of preparation, and the Government are making the necessary arrangements for the publication of further information giving guidance to local authorities and others, and for the production of the stocks of protective equipment which it has undertaken to supply.
