51. Mr. JENKINSasked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence the total value of orders placed in the United Kingdom in connection with the Government's re-anmament proposals; and similar information for the Special Areas of South Wales and Monmouthshire, and the North-East Coast, respectively?
§ Sir T. INSKIPAs the Prime Minister stated on 22nd June, consideration has been given to the question whether a method can be devised of making particulars of Government contracts placed in the Special Areas avail able. I hope to be able to give some information at an early date.
§ Miss WILKINSONHas the Cabinet yet considered that other-things-being-equal clause, which in fact renders nugatory any attempt on the part of the Cabinet to allocate a reasonable allowance to the distressed areas?
§ Sir T. INSKIPThe hon. Lady is in error in saying that that provision has been nugatory, and if she will await the statement which I hope to make in a few days, she will see that that is the case.
