HC Deb 13 July 1936 vol 314 c1664
59. Mr. KENNEDY

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is prepared to initiate discussion with responsible bodies in this country on the question of the legal limitation of the hours of labour in our main industries as a means of dealing with the problem of unemployment?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

My right hon. Friend and his predecessor have had interviews with representatives of a number of important industries and have discussed with them the question of absorbing more workers into employment by various means, including the limitation of hours of labour.
