§ The average numbers of males and females over 16 years of age in receipt of out-relief during May, 1936 (excluding persons in receipt of domiciliary medical relief only) were 312,203 and 422,769 respectively. Figures for institutional relief, distinguishing males and females, are only available in respect of 1st January.
