HC Deb 01 July 1936 vol 314 cc389-90
32 and 78. Mr. VIANT

asked (1) the Secretary of State for the Colonies the number of persons employed in his Department who are in receipt of salary in addition to pension, apart from war or disability pension;

(2) the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs the number of persons employed in his Department who are in receipt of salary in addition to pension, apart from war or disability pension?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

The establishment of the Dominions Office and the Colonial Office is a joint one, and with the hon. Member's permission I will answer this question and No. 78 together on behalf of the two Departments concerned. There are ten persons with naval or military pensions for long service, and eight with pensions from other Governments in respect of service overseas. Of these 18 persons, 13 are employed as messengers or paper-keepers; of the remaining five, only two are established civil servants.
