§ 43. Mr. DAYasked the First Commissioner of Works whether, in, view of the widespread interest throughout the Empire and the world generally in the Budget speech of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, he will consult with the Government departments concerned and other necessary authorities for the purpose of seeing whether arrangements can be made so that the delivery of this speech may be broadcast?
§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREI have consulted the authorities concerned who remain of the opinion, which they believe to be shared by the House generally, that it is undesirable that the proceedings of Parliament should be broadcast. It has been the practice in recent years for the Chancellor of the Exchequer to give a broadcast on the Budget in the evening after the Budget speech.
