HC Deb 16 December 1936 vol 318 c2453
43. Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

asked the Minister of Transport how much of the £100,000,000 of the five-year programme for the roads was spent during the financial year 1935–36; and how much is estimated to be spent during the year 1936–37?

Captain HUDSON

It is estimated that during the first year of the five-years' programme of road improvements expenditure was rather more than £2,750,000 and that during the current financial year it will approach £7,000,000. This is of course exclusive of expenditure on pre-1935–36 schemes continued during the years in question.
