HC Deb 15 December 1936 vol 318 cc2272-3
57. Dr. LEECH

asked the Secretary for Mines what steps have been taken by the Central Council of Colliery Owners since 1st August, 1936, to set up a central system for selling coal for export; and to what extent, and in relation to what countries, it is actually in operation?

Captain CROOKS, HANK

Since 1st August, 1936, a scheme for the organised sale of coal for export as well as for in- land consumption has been in operation in each coal-mining district. The function of the Central Council of Colliery Owners with regard to the schemes is one of co-ordination of policy and not the establishment of a central system for selling coal for export.
