HC Deb 08 December 1936 vol 318 c1813
21. Mr. G. HARDIE

(for Mr. R. GIBSON) asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that No. 8681, Private John MacFarlane, D Company, 1st Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, who joined the Army Special Reserve in 1913, was called up for War service in 1914, proceeded to France in 1915, saw much active service, and received a disability pension for four years after the War, has received no War gratuity and no War medals; and whether he will have this case considered with a view to making a grant to him of a War gratuity and the appropriate War medals?

Mr. COOPER

If Mr. MacFarlane will communicate with the War Office his medals will be forwarded to him, but the hon. Member will appreciate that at this late date it is not possible to consider any claims to gratuity in respect of the Great War.
