asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has any information as to negotiations in Paris concerning the French debt to America; and whether he will intimate to the Government of the United States,of America that His Majesty's Government are also anxious to settle in like manner?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I understand that no negotiations of the kind referred to in the first part of the question are taking place. In reply to the second part of the question, I would refer the right hon. Gentleman to the Note addressed to the United States Government on 7th June last (Command Paper. No. 5189).
