HC Deb 02 December 1936 vol 318 c1265
72. Mr. LESLIE

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will consider the advisability of providing a training centre in the derelict village of Stillington, County Durham, in order that unemployed men should have an opportunity of being trained in suitable trades in the hope of industry being attracted to this village where excellent railway facilities are available?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

The possibility of including Stillington in the area to be served by the proposed preparatory centre for young unemployed men at Spennymoor is at present under consideration. On the general question of establishing vocational training centres in areas such as Stillington, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer to his question on 26th November.
