HC Deb 28 April 1936 vol 311 c736
69. Mr. HOLLAND

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that an inquiry into the housing provisions in the village of Shirebrook, Derbyshire, revealed many families residing in overcrowded conditions; and whether he will state how far the Blackwell Rural District Council have moved in the matter of providing additional houses since that inquiry was held?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of HEALTH (Mr. Shakespeare)

My right hon. Friend assumes that the inquiry referred to is the inspection which the district council have been required to make under Section 1 of the Housing Act, 1935. A report showing the result of the inspection and the number of new houses required in order to abate overcrowding is due for submission to my right hon. Friend by 1st June, 1936. My right hon. Friend has not yet received the report in question from the local authority for the district to which the hon. Member refers.
