HC Deb 27 April 1936 vol 311 c545
43. Sir ROBERT YOUNG

asked the. President of the Board of Trade what was the total quantity of herrings exported to foreign countries during 1935 from the export fishing areas, respectively, of this country; the value of the same to Russia and other importing countries; and which countries, if any, have entered into trade agreements with this country to import British herrings?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Dr. Burgin)

I regret that the information asked for in the first part of the question is not available. As regards the second part, particulars of exports of herrings during 1935 to the Soviet Union and certain ether foreign countries are shown on page 116 of the Trade and Navigation Accounts for December, 1935. As regards the last part of the question, special concessions for herrings are contained in the trade agreements with the Argentine, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden.
