HC Deb 27 April 1936 vol 311 cc547-8
33. Mr. LEWIS

asked the Postmaster-General what arrangements have been made for carrying on the work until recently performed by Group-Captain W. H. Primrose as air-mail adviser?

Major TRYON

The appointment of Group-Captain Primrose as air-mail adviser was made on a temporary basis for the purpose of liaison between the Post Office and the Air Ministry at a time when extensive development was taking place in the air-mail services. The particular need for this work has now largely disappeared and it has not been necessary to make special provision for carrying it on.

Mr. LEWIS

Does that mean that the appointment of a temporary air-mail adviser, not a regular member of the Civil Service, has been found to be a failure?

Major TRYON

No. Sir. It has not been found to be a failure, but the emergency having passed, the matter is being reconsidered.
