HC Deb 23 April 1936 vol 311 c288
11. Mr. STOREY

asked the Minister of Health whether he can now state the steps he proposes to take to fulfil the undertaking to make special provision for those local authorities who have suffered financially as a result of the postponement of the second appointed day under the Unemployment Act, 1934?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Sir Kingsley Wood)

I am not yet in a position to add anything to the statement made when the undertaking to which my hon. Friend refers was given. I have undertaken to examine sympathetically any hard cases when the definite position at the termination of the grant can be ascertained.

Mr. STOREY

Can my right hon. Friend say whether he intends making a grant on account up to the end of the year ending on 31st March?

Sir K. WOOD

No, Sir. The cases will be examined when the position can be ascertained.
