I am not in a position at present to add anything to what I said on this subject in the course of the Debate on 9th April.

48. Mr. H. G. WILLIAMS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can furnish an estimate of the cost to date of the naval, military and air precautions taken as a result of the Italo-A byssinian dispute?

The provision made in Supplementary Estimates to meet the cost to 31st March, 1936, of these precautions amounts to approximately £7,000,000.

Is it proposed in the forthcoming Budget to impose a special tax on members of the League of Nations Union to pay this sum?
