HC Deb 06 April 1936 vol 310 cc2393-4
10. Mr. CREECH JONES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any information concerning the recent agreement between the Mongolian Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; when it was made; and what are its terms?

Mr. EDEN

I am informed that a protocol of mutual assistance between the Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the Outer Mongolian authorities was signed at Urga on 12th March. I understand that this protocol, of which no details are yet available, embodies obligations which have been in existence since 1921.

Mr. H. G. WILLIAMS

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether one of the parties to the Treaty is a part of the Republic of China?

Mr. EDEN

I understand the Soviet Government have communicated the agreement to the Chinese Government.
