20. Mr. DAVIDSONasked the Minister of Labour whether any arrangements have been made to ensure increased staffs on Employment Exchanges, in view of the contemplated changes in Part II of the Unemployment Act, 1934?
§ Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEADI am not aware of any contemplated changes in Part II of the Unemployment Act, 1934. Provision is made in the printed Estimates for all staff requirements, so far as they can be foreseen.
Mr. DAVIDSONAm I to take it the rumour that the additional staff which would be necessary to carry out the provisions would lead to increased expenditure, is not correct?
§ Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEADI am not exactly clear as to what the hon. Member's question refers to. No change in Part II of the Unemployment Act, 1934, is contemplated.
§ Mr. A. BEVANIs the hon. and gallant Gentleman aware that he has not answered the question, and that what he is asked is whether, when persons chargeable to public assistance come to be 2105 chargeable to the National Board, there is an increased strain on the Employment Exchanges?
§ Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEADThat is another question.
