HC Deb 02 April 1936 vol 310 c2129
61. Mr. DENVILLE

asked the President of the Board of Education whether his attention has been drawn to the action of the education authorities in prohibiting, under the Young Children and Persons Act, Daphne Walker from taking part in an athletic competition for the British skating championship; and whether he will intervene in future to prevent any repetition of such action?

Mr. STANLEY

I have no information about the case of Daphne Walker beyond what has appeared in the newspapers. The question whether it would have been contrary to law for her to take part in the competition while the public were present, is not one which I should have had any authority to decide, and I cannot therefore take the step suggested by the hon. Member.
