asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air how many commercial air lines in Great Britain ceased operations during the last 12 months; over what routes they were operating; and what steps he proposes to take to see that an adequate system of air communications is maintained in Great Britain?

Three companies ceased operations during the last 12 months, but the interests of two of them have, I understand, been acquired by other concerns. With my hon. Friend's permission, I will circulate a list of the routes in the OFFICIAL REPORT. As regards the last part of the question, the matter will be one for consideration in the light of the report of Sir Henry Maybury's Committee.
