HC Deb 01 April 1936 vol 310 c2002
62. Mr. BARCLAY-HARVEY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware that the spread of bracken is causing serious damage to agricultural arid pastoral land in Scotland; and what action he proposes to take to deal with the matter?

Sir G. COLLINS

Yes, Sir. In view of the urgency of the problem as affecting sheep farmers in Scotland, I have approved a scheme for providing financial assistance in 1936 and succeeding years for cutting bracken by machines of two types which have been tested by experiment.
