HC Deb 29 May 1935 vol 302 cc1105-6
3. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will state the present position at the British consulate at Budapest?

Sir J. SIMON

In January, following a reorganisation of the work of the post at Budapest, the salaried vice-consulate was suppressed, and the consular work is now performed under the supervision of the commercial secretary. I am satisfied that this arrangement, which has resulted in greater efficiency and a considerable saving in the cost of running the post, is in the public interest.
