§ 3. Mr. MANDERasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will state the present position at the British consulate at Budapest?
§ Sir J. SIMONIn January, following a reorganisation of the work of the post at Budapest, the salaried vice-consulate was suppressed, and the consular work is now performed under the supervision of the commercial secretary. I am satisfied that this arrangement, which has resulted in greater efficiency and a considerable saving in the cost of running the post, is in the public interest.
