HC Deb 22 May 1935 vol 302 c352
54. Mr. JOHN

(for Mr. MAINWARING) asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to two cases of alleged coal stealing, in which D. J. Evans and G. L. Rosser, of Ferndale, were at Forth county court, on Thursday, 16th May last, upon the unsupported evidence of a police officer, sentenced to one month's and two months' hard labour, respectively; and if he will make inquiries into this case with a view to a reduction of the sentence?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I have no information about the cases to which the hon. Member refers, and the statement made in his question is not a ground for a recommendation of clemency.
