HC Deb 22 May 1935 vol 302 cc325-7
10. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is now able to give particulars of the present state of the negotiations for the Western Air Pact; whether any drafts have been prepared and circulated amongst the countries concerned; and whether it is contemplated that a general conference shall take place at any stage?

Mr. DOBBIE

Will the hon. Gentleman state what steps, if any, the country to Germany Government have taken to prevent the exportation of the materials in question from this country to Germany?

Dr. BURGIN

Certainly not without some form of notice. The question that is asked is purely statistical, and as to any other question I think the hon. Member had better put it on the Paper.

Mr. PIKE

Will the tables that my hon. Friend proposes to publish contain, in view of the great diminution of Socialist voters in the country, statistics of other scrap imported by Germany?

Following is the answer:.

Sir J. SIMON

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply to the question he addressed to me on 15th May.

Mr. MANDER

Can fhe right hon. Gentleman say when he hopes to be able to make any statement on the subject?

Sir J. SIMON

That is the question that the hon. Member asked the other day. The hon. Member can rest assured that this matter is being pursued with all energy, but I do not think that questions and answers about details are really very helpful.

Mr. MANDER

Will the right hon. Gentleman not say when he hopes to be able to make a statement in Debate.

Sir J. SIMON

I shall be very glad to give the hon. Member information as to when I think it would be first desirable for him to put further questions.
