§ 19. Captain HAROLD BALFOURasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he will state the number of permanent commissions granted from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge during 1934; and if, when the university of London has a training squadron, the number of such entries will be increased?
§ Sir P. SASSOONDuring 1934 the number of appointments to permanent commissions from the universities was raised to 20; of these seven were from Oxford and nine from Cambridge. I regret that I am not yet in a position to state the number to be made in the current year. I may add that it is hoped that the London University Squadron will come into being in the forthcoming autumn.
