HC Deb 21 May 1935 vol 302 c176
25. Mr. A. BEVAN

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether any firms which are at present building ships for His Majesty's Navy pay royalties and/or commission to foreign firms or Governments on the construction of those ships; and, if so, whether he will state the nature of such agreements, the firms or Governments concerned in England and abroad, and the amount which which has been paid in each year during the past five years?

Sir B. EYRES MONSELL

Contracts for the construction of ships for the Royal Navy invariably place upon the shipbuilders the responsibility for settling their own cost any claims which may arise on account of the use of patented inventions. Any royalties, etc., would be included in the total price, and the information desired is therefore not available.
