HC Deb 21 May 1935 vol 302 cc165-6
23. Mr. LOUIS SMITH

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether he will instruct the British commercial representative in Germany to compile a statement showing the rates of pay of German workers in connection with manufactured products which are exported to this country for competition with our own.

Lieut.-Colonel J. COLVILLE (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

No, Sir. The published information in Germany is insufficient to enable the Commercial Counsellor to compile an adequate statement of the kind suggested. Summaries of official German statistics on this subject have, however, been given from time to time in the "Ministry of Labour Gazette."
