HC Deb 16 May 1935 vol 301 cc1888-9
60. Captain ARCHIBALD RAMSAY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he can now give the House information as to the progress in the scheme for the provision of a proper water supply in the village of Cousland, in Midlothian?

The SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Sir Godfrey Collins)

Offers obtained for the supply of the necessary pumping plant and of electrical power are at present under the consideration of the interests concerned in the improvement of the water supply in the village, that is to say, the County Council, the Stair Estate and the British Portland Cement Manufacturing Company Limited.

Captain RAMSAY

In view of the fact that this matter has been dragging on for a great many months, will the Secretary of State see that something is done within a reasonable space of time?

Sir G. COLLINS

I agree that the matter has been hanging for some time, and, if it is still delayed, I will take steps to bring it to ahead.
