asked the Secretary for Mines the number of licences granted and the total number applied for under the Petroleum (Production) Act, and the amount received by the Treasury in respect of such licences?

No formal applications for licences under the Petroleum (Production) Act, 1934, can be made until the regulations issued in accordance with Section 6 of the Act come into force on 17th June next, if Parliament agrees. These regulations were made yesterday and copies have been laid on the Table.
