§ 5. Mr. RANKINasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it has yet been suggested to the Japanese Government that they should accede to the convention for the regulation of whaling; and whether there is any evidence that Japanese whalers will be operating in the Antarctic during the current year as in 1934?
§ Sir J. SIMONI hope shortly to receive an indication of the views of the Japanese Government as regards accession to the convention for the regulation of whaling. Although I have no authoritative information it seems possible that Japanese whalers will be operating in the Antarctic during the current year.
