HC Deb 15 May 1935 vol 301 cc1707-8
48. Miss WARD

asked the Minister of Health whether he is yet in a position to make a statement regarding the Government's proposals for dealing with persons who have fallen out of national health insurance?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of HEALTH (Mr. Shakespeare)

My right hon. Friend hopes to introduce legislation on this subject very shortly.

Miss WARD

Is the hon. Member in a position to say that the medical side will be considered, as this matter is causing great anxiety to a number of people?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

I do not think my hon. Friend will have long to wait, but I cannot anticipate the terms of the Bill.

Mr. G. GRIFFITHS

Will the maternity side be considered?

Mr. RHYS DAVIES

May we take it that the Bill will be passed through all its stages before the end of July?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

Obviously, I cannot guarantee that, but we should like it.
