Mr. McENTEEasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware of a practice of certain marketing boards of receiving names of unemployed shorthand typists from the employment exchanges and then sending them to private employment agencies to be engaged, and paying fees to such agencies; and whether any steps have been taken to prevent this practice?
Mr. HUDSONCertain cases of this kind occurred, I understand, in the early part of last year but were immediately discontinued on being brought to the notice of the Marketing Board concerned. I have no knowledge of any more recent instances.
