HC Deb 09 May 1935 vol 301 c1124
23. Mr. DAVID MASON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can inform the House of the taxation per head in the United Kingdom for 1913–14 and that for 1933–34, also the corresponding figures for France, Germany, Italy, and the United States of America?

22. Sir WILLIAM DAVISON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can give approximately for each of the past five years the taxation in sterling per head of the population in the United Kingdom and also in the United States of America, Germany, France, and Italy?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

If the two hon. Members would be so good as to put their questions down again in a week, I will see if the information can be supplied in a satisfactory form.

Mr. PETHERICK

When my right hon. Friend does supply the information, will he make it clear whether the figures relating to the United States of America refer to Federal or States taxation, or both?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Certainly.

Mr. MASON

Will the right hon. Gentleman allow me to apologise for the short notice of this question? I wished to get the figures, if possible, before the discussion of the Finance Bill.
