HC Deb 08 May 1935 vol 301 c949
1. Sir JOHN POWER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has received any recent reports as to the position in Tangier; and whether under the present international administration he is satisfied that British interests are adequately safeguarded?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)

I have received reports on this matter which are under consideration. His Majesty's Government do not regard the present position as satisfactory, and steps are being taken to approach the other Powers signatory to the Convention of 1923 relating to the organisation of the Tangier Statute.
