HC Deb 27 March 1935 vol 299 c1907
57. Mr. GRAHAM WHITE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any loss has been sustained by the Treasury in respect of the guarantees of principal and interest on loans issued by the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, Limited, under the Trade Facilities Acts?

Mr. COOPER

The Treasury has made certain payments in respect of the service of loans, raised by this Company, and guaranteed under the Trade Facilities Acts, but the amounts so paid constitute a secured debt from the Company to the Treasury.

Mr. WHITE

Do I understand that there is specific security for these loans?

Mr. COOPER

Yes.
