asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can state the number of cases investigated by inspectors under the Agricultural Wages Act, 1924, during 1934; the number of prosecutions and the total amount of fines; and the comparative figures for 1932 and 1933?

During 1934 investigations were made under the Agricultural Wages (Regulation) Act, 1924, in respect of the wages paid by 2,795 employers, 77 prosecutions were instituted and the fines imposed in the cases where convictions were secured amounted to £155. The corresponding figures for 1932 were 2,680 investigations, 67 prosecutions and £200 in fines, and for 1933, 2,547 investigations, 58 prosecutions and £221 in fines.
