HC Deb 14 March 1935 vol 299 cc545-6
80. Mr. JOEL

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether his attention has been drawn to the report of the higher education sub-committee to the London County Council with regard to cadet corps in their secondary schools; and whether he has any information to give?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Douglas Hacking)

My attention has been called to the report in question: I have no information other than that which appeared in the Press.

Brigadier-General NATION

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether it is competent for the London County Council to disband these units without the authority of the War Office?

Mr. HACKING

I do not think it is a question of disbanding. It is a question of financial assistance. We have no power to intervene.
