HC Deb 12 March 1935 vol 299 cc198-9
35. Mr. McKIE

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the dissatisfaction among residents in the area, he will reconsider his decision regarding the postal direction of Gatehouse-of-Fleet, Kirkcudbrightshire?

The ASSISTANT POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Sir Ernest Bennett)

As my right hon. Friend stated in his answer to my hon. Friend's question of the 25th of February, the change was made as part of a general policy, and he regrets there- fore that he cannot alter the decision, which was only arrived at after careful consideration.

Mr. McKIE

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that considerable anxiety on this point is felt among the residents in this highly attractive place, which has many visitors in the summer?

Sir E. BENNETT

All the facts of the case have been taken into consideration.
