HC Deb 11 March 1935 vol 299 cc10-1
21. Mr. T. SMITH

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that Mr. Robert Wagg, of Great Bircham, King's Lynn, Norfolk, a workers' representative of the Norfolk Agricultural Wages Committee, has been dismissed from employment after 46 years' service by his employer, Mr. R. Matthews, Bircham, Newton, on the ground that he was a member of the Agricultural Wages Committee and had supported the in crease of wages of 1s. 6d. per week upon which the committee had decided; and what action he proposes to take to avoid workers' representatives being victimised on account of their membership of such committees?

Mr. ELLIOT

I received on[...] a communication on this subject on the National Union of Agricultural[...] and though the issue raised is [...]er which I have no jurisdiction, I have given instructions for inquiries to be given.
