HC Deb 07 March 1935 vol 298 cc2108-9
17. Mr. GEORGE GRIFFITHS

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will approve of the inclusion, as a matter of extreme urgency, in their 1935–36 programme of schools for the Thorne area, as requested by the West Riding County Council, in view of the conditions in that area?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Ramsbotham)

The Board have informed the West Riding local education authority that they will be prepared to consider proposals for new schools at Thorne, South End, and Thorne, Moorends, as a necessary part of the county programme for 1935–36.

Mr. T. WILLIAMS

May I ask the hon. Gentleman whether the answer implies that no application has yet been received from the West Riding?

Mr. RAMSBOTHAM

I am not sure.
