HC Deb 04 March 1935 vol 298 cc1581-2
67. Sir A. POWNALL

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that, in spite of complaints to the police, residents in the neighbourhood of. Bruton Mews, London, W.1, are almost nightly disturbed by the sounding of motor horns at all hours of the night and early morning; and whether he will ensure that the necessary steps are taken to stop this contravention of the law?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis informs me that in consequence of a number of complaints of noise in the early hours of the morning in South Bruton Mews the police have paid special attention to the mews. Enquiries show that most of the noise arises from the banging of doors, starting of engines, etc., rather than from the sounding of motor horns. Only one instance of the sounding of a motor horn in prohibited hours has come under police notice, and in that case the offender was verbally warned. The police will continue to give attention to this matter.
