HC Deb 04 March 1935 vol 298 c1552
17. Mr. LYONS

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department under whose authority the British exhibits will be arranged this year at the forthcoming Canadian National Exhibition at Toronto; and to what extent it is proposed that His Majesty's Government will co-operate at that event?

Lieut.-Colonel J. COLVILLE (Secretary Overseas Trade Department)

The British Trade Section of the Toronto Board of Trade proposes to organise, as it did last year, the British Section of the Canadian National Exhibition. His Majesty's Government will again maintain an information Bureau in the British Section, and place at the disposal of United Kingdom exhibitors the services of the Department of Overseas Trade and of His Majesty's Trade Commissioners in Canada.

Mr. LYONS

While thanking the hon. and gallant Gentleman for the information he has given, may I inquire what steps are being taken to bring to the notice of potential exhibitors in this country the arrangements that are being made by the authorities in Toronto?

Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLE

It is hardly possible to explain by way of question and answer what is being done, but the Department has fully in mind any opportunities that may be presented there.
