HC Deb 25 June 1935 vol 303 cc934-5
22. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is now in a position to indicate the steps it is proposed to take to meet the problems arising from insurance companies becoming insolvent, and thus unable to meet their liabilities in respect of motor insurances and other matters?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I would refer to the answer which I gave on the 20th June to the hon. Member for Hemsworth (Mr. G. Griffiths).

Mr. THORNE

Does the right hon. Gentleman not think that the surest and the best way of dealing with this matter is to set up a State insurance department?
