HC Deb 25 June 1935 vol 303 c939
40. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the reasons why an expulsion order has been issued in France against Lieutenant-Colonel Francis Norris; and what action he is taking in the matter?

Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLE

As regards the first part of the question, no reasons have, so far as I am aware, been assigned for the decision taken by the French Government to request Lieutenant-Colonel Norris to leave French territory. As regards the second part of the question, it is not proposed to take any action in the matter.

Mr. MANDER

Is not an Englishman entitled to know the reason for his exclusion from the country; and is my hon. and gallant Friend aware that Colonel Norris denies all the rumours which are in circulation in regard to himself?

Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLE

If Colonel Norris wishes to make a written statement to the proper department, it will be considered.

Mr. MANDER

Is the Foreign Office prepared to hear him state his case personally?

Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLE

Yes, Sir, if he requests an interview.
